Cloud Monitoring metrics for semantic governance

The official 22 August 2026 release notes announce Preview Cloud Monitoring metrics for the semantic-governance policy engine.

Teams can use Metrics Explorer, the Cloud Monitoring v3 API, PromQL and alerting policies.

Which metrics are available?

The feature turns policy behavior and cost into operational telemetry.

  • Request throughput
  • Policy evaluation count
  • Latency
  • ALLOW / DENY verdict distribution
  • LLM token consumption

Why does this matter for Enterprise AI?

Policy becomes more dependable when its real-world effect is visible. A DENY spike, latency jump or unusual token use can indicate configuration errors, attacks or changed usage.

Monitoring does not replace policy design, but it provides feedback for remediation.

Enterprise semantic-governance monitoring requirements

Governance is becoming something organizations can observe, measure, alert on and audit—not only a static set of policies.

Organizations need thresholds, owners and incident processes for verdicts, latency and budget.
