What did Cloud Next 2026 bring into focus?

In its official Next 2026 recap, Google Cloud named agentic technology and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform as central themes. The message is that organizations are moving from isolated experiments to building and managing agents at scale.

That does not mean every workflow should be automated immediately; use-case selection and risk controls remain decisive. Practical value appears when each agent's task, data and authority boundary are explicit.

What is needed to manage agents at scale?

Every agent needs a clear identity, data scope, allowed tools, owner and success metric. Without them, more agents can simply create more complexity and risk.

A shared pattern for tracing, evaluation, cost management and error handling keeps independently built agents comparable and governable.

  • Independent identity and permission
  • Controlled data and connectors
  • Tracing and observability
  • Evals and acceptance criteria
  • Stop and review process

Which use case is the right place to start?

Agent value comes from specific, measurable tasks—not the number of active agents. Architecture needs to support audit, cost, quality and human escalation from the start.

A team can begin with one low-risk flow, record acceptance criteria and expand the same identity and observability pattern only after quality is demonstrated.
